Research - Music Video - Pitbull
The final music video I am going to analyse is by Pitbull “Back In Time”. The genre of this video is Dance-pop.
"Back in Time" was originally released as the lead single from the soundtrack of sci-fi film sequel, Men in Black 3. But for unknown reasons, it didn't make the final cut onto the official soundtrack. The single was released via download on March 26, 2012, The single to date has sold over 1.3 million copies digitally.
The relationship between the music and the visuals in this video are not really close. The visuals of the video have a completely different genre to the lyrics or the way they are sung. The video is clearly shown as a Si-Fi. As for the lyrics they have been rapped not sung so this brings a more dance/pop feel to the song.
The relation between the visuals and the lyrics do portray the genre to the audience, as they lyrics do explain the movie ‘Men in Black 3’. The lyrics explain that the video is set in the past, which is also shown in the title of the song “Back In Time”.
In this video the performance is mostly narrative based as the majority of the time we can see someone singing. During the video we get cuts from the movie ‘Men in Black 3’ the shows a short story through the video and can explain the movie a bit more to the audience. This video can also persuade the audience to go and see the movie if they haven’t done so.
