This magazine advert is for the Killers “Day and Age” album. We can see from the main background image that it has been created using computer software and hasn’t been taken with a camera (although the ideas in the background image could have come from real images). The image has been computer generated and has had a tile texture put over the top of it to make it stand out.
This advert doesn’t include any members of the band and this could be down to them being well known. This is a technique used by many bands and artists nowadays that give the sense to the reader that they are mysterious and gives the readers the feeling that they are 'in the know'.
The picture shown here is also the album cover, this is a convention thoroughly tried and tested by many bands and artists and helps readers find the album when they are searching in music stores or online.
On this advert they don’t include any reviews, this is probably another way of keeping mysterious and keeping the advert simple, it may also be because they feel they don’t need to hype themselves up anymore and the words 'the brand new album' work just as well for them now.
The advert also includes the bands record company and their own website for readers and loyal fans to see more info and interactive material about the band.
